Funrock raises 6,5MSEK in funding

Stockholm based Funrock have secured a major financial windfall after their latest round – 6,5MSEK to be exact to release their first game Zombie Attack targeting the Middle East.

The news was revealed in an article on Dagens Industri (Swedish), with the studio also announcing two new recruits – former Carnegie CEO Thomas Eriksson as well as Magdy Shehata from Truecaller.

Speaking to DI, the studios CEO, David Wallinder said,

It would be silly of me to think that in our current state we can compete with the big global companies and their large budgets, but we view the Middle East as a springboard to achieving that goal. There are no other major strategy mobile studios in Sweden and we want to be a major player here.

Zombie Attack, which is the studios debut title and working name is expected to be released later this year.
